PARENTS FUEL FUND 2019 – Ongoing

This is a project close to trustee Howard James’s heart and he has been trying to get it off the ground for a few years.  We can now announce that the project is up and running.

We aim to support parents with their FUEL / PARKING / TRANSPORT / ACCOMMODATION costs.  After our time spent in the Williams Harvey Neonatal Unit, we realised that these costs can soon add up and cause a lot of unnecessary stress for parents, especially if your baby is in the unit for a longer period of time.  In our situation for example, although generally we did not experience financial difficulties, I had to stop working, being a self-employed therapist, this meant zero income.  Howard also had to take some unpaid time off work.  If it wasn’t for our families’support, we don’t know what we would have done.

Within a week of the project’s start, we have received positive feedback from the unit.

We received the ‘gesture of goodwill ‘ vouchers.  So amazing, the day they came I was looking after the most deserving family who I gave a voucher to. They were very, very grateful.  I know this is something you have spoken about doing for a while and I can already confirm how well received it was by this family. -William Harvey Hospital, Kent –

This year 20 families will benefit from the fund and we hope that in the future we can offer support to more parents.  Hopefully this is something you feel deserving of support.  You can do so by making a donation to our JustGiving or Facebook pages, by hosting a fundraising event or taking part in sponsored activities for the trust.
